2 September 2009 - Economic Outlook and Beyond: Is there light at the end of the tunnel...?

Over 120 members of Oxfordshire business community attended the Economic Outlook 2009 at the Williams F1 Centre in Oxfordshire.
Co-hosted with Darbys and RBS, the keynote speaker was Stephen Boyle, RBS’s Chief Economist, who provided an insight on global economic forces and their impact on businesses in the UK.
His presentation was followed by a question and answer session which provided a lively debate, drawing on the experience and financial expertise of both audience and speaker.

"What is zero carbon? Defining the benchmarks"
Greenhouse gas emission rating benchmarks are becoming more important in the construction and refurbishment of buildings worldwide, and there has been a growing demand for consistency and comparability between the different systems, particularly in the way that they account for the calculation of carbon emissions from buildings.
Their talk will explain and examine the following national and international standards:
- Overview of current UK building regulations
- European and US Standards and other international standards - what they include and exclude
- Future: DIN V 18599 and beyond - and ABAE’s role in defining them.
30 June 2009 - Acquiring a Business out of Administration
Critchleys Corporate Finance and Business Recovery and Insolvency teams hosted a morning workshop on buying a business out of administration.
This practical workshop included a brief introduction to the concept of businesses being in administration and what opportunities this presents to business people open to the idea of acquiring a competitor or a business that complements what they already have.
The workshop concluded by summarising why a business in administration can be an opportunity if approached with an open mind and knowledge of the risk factors as well as how expert advice is crucial.
23 April 2009 - Critchleys Budget seminar
Once again we went beyond the briefcase and delivered practical tax planning strategies that helps people to reduce their tax bill.
21 April 2009 - Trustees' responsibilities in tougher times
This seminar covered managing the charity's finances, trustee reporting requirements and why charities need to think like businesses. A final session on Fundraising in tough times looked at how charities can beat the recession.
