VAT exemption won for charity
Critchleys recently represented a major national charity, which was struggling with the complexity of VAT registration, and the VAT liability of a large number of different sources of income.
A detailed review was undertaken, looking at the charity’s agreements, and other relevant facts relating to its overall situation. Critchleys’ VAT team then drafted an extensive submission to H M Revenue & Customs, addressing numerous issues on the client’s behalf.
Critchleys succeeded in getting Customs to agree to all the points in the submission, including VAT exemption for the large-scale agreements the charity had negotiated with partners in the private sector. These totalled over £5 million, making their exempt status a valuable asset.
