Tell us about your career journey at Critchleys and your current role?

I joined Critchleys as Accounts and Outsourcing Trainee four years ago and moved to the Audit team 18 months ago. From the very first day, I learnt a lot from a wonderful team, who kept pushing me and made me always give my best. This has helped me a lot with my current role in Audit, where I carry out audit and assurance work for the Firm and am responsible for guiding Audit Assistants in audit fieldwork.

What types of industries and clients do you work with?

I work across colleges, charities, academies and corporate. I enjoy working on colleges the most as it is always nice to visit the wonderful, historic college sites.

I am responsible for the audit work of 24 clients reporting to managers, directors and partners. I enjoy the fact how every client is different, and I get the chance to gain various aspects of each business.

How has Critchleys supported your development and career growth?

At Critchleys I have been exposed to different client environments, learning different approaches as well as applying the same principles which helps improve and deepen my knowledge and also, being provided study support, such as Accounting and Audit training seminars, has been a positive drive for my career growth.

What’s been your biggest career highlight at Critchleys so far?

Critchleys’ great culture and work environment has been my biggest career highlight where I am able to work in the field of what I love and actually enjoy my work.

For you, what makes Critchleys 'Critchleys'?

The culture of professionalism makes Critchleys 'Critchleys' where the company prides to provide quality advice for its clients - this shows in its commitment to investing in its employees’ professional qualifications where in return they are able to provide a high standard service to the clients.

What are the top 3 things you enjoy about your role, team and Critchleys?

I enjoy the exposure to clients, management is supportive on what you do, and team members are easy to get along with.

What challenges have you faced during your career and how did you overcome these?

I would say that a challenge I have faced during my career would be pursuing further qualification; I did not have a good work/life balance as I was struggling to make study time for exams.  I overcame this challenge by planning around my work calendar to organise study times which meant that I could still prioritise work and have space for studies at the same time.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of their career?

Be open to explore different opportunities and always be willing to learn.
