Tell us about your career journey at Critchleys and your current role?
I joined Critchleys 3 years ago; it was my first office job and I was new to payroll, so I started as a Trainee Payroll Administrator and there was lots to learn. To boost my knowledge I completed the CIPP Payroll Technician Certificate course and after year 1 in role I lost my trainee status and began to take responsibility for some larger payroll clients. To date, I have completed years 1 and 2 of the CIPP Foundation Degree in payroll management and my responsibilities within the team have increased.
As a Senior Payroll Administrator I am responsible for some of our largest payroll clients. I help the team with their day-to-day queries and review their work, as well as assisting the Payroll Manager with growth of the business by gaining and implementing new clients.
What types of industries and clients do you work with?
I am directly responsible for between 40-50 clients. I enjoy being able to help clients and answer their queries so that they can understand more about payroll.
How has Critchleys supported your development and career growth?
Critchleys has encouraged me to have the confidence to enrol on my courses, as well as funding them. I’ve been given the opportunity to progress within the team and have my knowledge challenged and expanded.
I can lack confidence so by Critchleys and my manager encouraging me to make the next steps and take part on courses, etc. has helped me to keep fulfilling my potential.
What’s been your biggest career highlight at Critchleys so far?
Being promoted to Senior Payroll Administrator.

What challenges have you faced during your career and how did you overcome these?
My main challenge would probably be overcoming my lack of confidence - I've tried to focus on learning lots from my manager and through courses, so that I can be more confident in my knowledge.
